guest house/villa is located in the picturesque hamlet of
Barie, near the towns of
La Reole and
Langon in the
Aquitaine region (South West) of
France.
La Sojourn is approx 50 km southeast of
Bordeaux, with its modern international airport in department 33, the Gironde. The guest house stands in its own private grounds on the banks of the Gironde and benefits from a lovely 10m x 5m
swimming pool perfect for cooling off in on those long hot
summer days.

Things To See & Do
There are numerous places of interest to visit nearby. To mention but a few:
Villandraut, with its lively lake/beach, and canoeing on the Ciron, Castle Villandraut and the elegant Chateau Cazeneuve, with its river side grotto.
The medieval village of St. Macaire just 10 minutes from the house with its lovely narrow streets has its original gates, battlements and medieval church, it offers a number of good restaurants and cafes. Cadillac, Sauveterre de Guyenne and Bazas are all lovely old towns with interesting architecture and all have weekly market days. Closer to home are other lively markets in both Langon and La Reole.
A visit to Bordeaux is also a must, either by car or train (from La Reole or Langon), it has excellent shopping, restaurants and architecture and a vibrant Sunday market.
Further afield, Duras with its lovely Chateaux, restaurants and bars and St. Emilion, famous for its fine wines and collegiate Cloisters, the King’s Tower, beautiful cobbled streets, the quaint squares full of cafes and restaurants and the degustations to pleasure the pallet.
Arcachon, on the Atlantic coast, with its miles of sandy beaches is approx.60 minutes drive from the house. The Pyla sand dunes also in Arcachon are the highest in Europe and well worth the walk to the top to see the stunning views of the coast. Alternatively there are many local lakes with beaches worth visiting.
