La Sojournis an idyllic, recently refurbished
French country farmhouse which can sleep up to
8 people.
The
3 bedroom, 2 bathroom
guest house/villa is located in the picturesque hamlet of
Barie, near the towns of
La Reole and
Langon in the
Aquitaine region (South West) of
France.
La Sojourn is approx 50 km southeast of
Bordeaux, with its modern international airport in department 33, the Gironde. The guest house stands in its own private grounds on the banks of the Gironde and benefits from a lovely 10m x 5m
swimming pool perfect for cooling off in on those long hot
summer days.

The House & Garden
La Sojourn has been in our family for about 17 years. Our children, who are now grown up, have enjoyed many happy holidays there. There is a small flat above the barn which we have retained for our use, so we might see you there.
There are 3 large comfortable airy bedrooms, one double and two twin bedrooms, one of the twins has a further bed which can be converted to two if necessary, (so it will sleep up to 4 comfortably). The landing has a french window with stunning views over the Gironde and you may glimpse eagles and herons gliding along the river. There are 2 bathrooms, one with a bath and separate shower, the 2nd bathroom is a shower wet room (shower, loo and basin) there is also a downstairs cloakroom which incorporates a washing machine. All linen, bath and hand towels are included but please bring your own swimming towels.
The kitchen has been decorated in farmhouse style, but with all the modern conveniences which include a dishwasher, gas cooker, microwave, toaster, large fridge freezer and ample cutlery and crockery. You can dine in the kitchen at the pine kitchen table. The fireplace houses a Jotul wood burner for those chillier days in early Spring and late Autumn. The large airy sitting room is furnished with 2 comfy sofas and 2 chairs, and it has a large open stone fireplace. There is a television, video (with a variety of films, adult and children’s in English), DVD player, CD/ radio and an assortment of games including Bagatelle.
Downstairs all the floors are traditionally tiled and the whole house has shutters to keep it cool during the summer months. All the bedrooms have fans.
Outside, on the terrace, there is a shaded area for eating, equipped with table, chairs and a BBQ, with lovely views over the surrounding area, and kiwi fruit orchard. The landscaped swimming pool area has plenty of space for sun bed sunbathing, and also benefits from a shaded area with a table and chairs. The pool area can be gently illuminated from the house for a relaxing evening dip. The pool area has been fenced with security fencing as required under French law. The pool is for the sole use of our guests at the house.
There is table tennis in the barn and outdoor badminton. Golf, tennis, horse-riding, bicycle hire and canoeing are a short drive away.
